ALISON FINKEL

Program Director and Fundraising Leader

I AM a non-profit professional with vast expertise managing multi-faceted and complex fundraising programs.

With a focus on building teams that work, I have a proven record of increasing giving and achieving measurable successes throughout my career. I currently provide strategic planning, fundraising analysis, brand building and communications consultation services to non-profit organizations and other good causes.

In my role as Senior Associate Director in Alumni Relations and Development at Northwestern University, my team created and managed Northwestern’s single largest gathering of alumni on campus each year. This required the coordination of dozens of departments and hundreds of staff, building alignment and advocacy among key stakeholders to produce 80 separate weekend events and activities.

Before that, I was a member of the senior leadership team at Event 360, a non-profit consulting company based in Chicago, where I served as the senior account director for Susan G. Komen. In this role, I coordinated several multi-day, multi-city fundraising series. This required balancing long-term goals and strategic planning with ground-level execution to execute highly-successful events. During my tenure, these programs raised more than one half-billion dollars for Susan G. Komen.

I believe that teams are at the heart of any successful project and I dedicate myself to making teams work. I was the 2013 recipient of Event 360’s Heart and Soul Award, the only team-nominated and peer-reviewed award given by the company. I was also a 2019 recipient of Northwestern’s Garfield Award, with an unanimous submission by all members of my team and additional recommendations by nearly two dozen staff.

I am passionate about my hometown, Evanston, Illinois, where I am involved with Foundation 65, serve as a liaison to our 5th ward block club, and founded an Evanston parents group. A few years ago I played a significant role in the renovation and rejuvenation of the historic Firemen’s Park and Playground, in partnership with the city and Evanston Fire Department.
